In this clip Noel recalls his flight to Tel Aviv, Israel to begin his service with 43 Infantry Battalion. He describes the waiting around after landing and the journey from Israel into South Lebanon escorted by French UNIFIL troops. He gives his first impressions of the destruction in the area, bullet holes in houses and artillery craters in the roads. He describes their arrival in the village of Hariss where they cleared out a room in a bombed out restaurant to sleep for the night.
