In this clip Michael recalls his first deployment overseas, serving as the Weapons Platoon Commander with 51st Infantry Battalion in 1982, reflecting that it took ten years to get an overseas appointment. He speaks about his impressions of the 1982 Lebanon War and refers to his sadness that the personnel of 51st Battalion had made it safely through this period only to lose 'three of our own to one of our one' at the end of the trip, on 27th October 1982. He is referring to the deaths of Pte Peter Burke, Pte Thomas Murphy and Cpl Gary Morrow at Tibnin Bridge.
