In this clip Tom discusses the question of United Nations peacekeepers returning fire. He explains that the De Facto Forces (DFF) at the checkpoint area tried to take over that position, they rushed the position and Pte Stephen Griffin was fatally wounded, Irish forces did not return fire at this time. He recalls that Comdt Taylor ordered them to return fire if any other positions were threatened. Tom speaks about the experience of firing from the roof of the Platoon Post when DFF personnel approached the position and states that after this the DFF withdrew instantly.
